Template actions: download, backup, edit and restore

This tutorial describes how to perform a backup of your template, how to edit your template and how to restore your template.
tip level: beginner

Some times people find problems editing their template and then I figure out that the root for the problem is because they didn't select the "Expand Widget Templates" check box. So, if you are using the code directly from this check box, be sure to select it:

However, I would recommend that you edit your template another way.

1. Download the full template, by clicking the link "Download Full Template":

2. Choose to save the file and give it a meaningful filename:

Including the date in the filename it's a good idea for backup organization.

3. Keep this file unchanged and perform the edits in a copy of this file. This way, if something goes wrong you can go back by uploading the previous version of the template.
Use a text editor to perform your changes in the .xml file. You can use a basic editor such as Windows Notepad but consider to use an editor that colorize the code. Notepad++ is a good choice and it's free. Links:
Download page; click at the "Download Now!" button:

4. Perform your edits in the template, save the file and upload the new template. The template will be immediately changed and in use.

If you want to preview the changes before applying them, copy the edited template text and replace the text of the text box with it. Then press "Preview":

If it is ok, press "Save Template".
This preview method doesn't always work, particularly if the changes involve JavaScript. The best approach is to create a test blog and performing the template tests there.
5. If your changes become problematic, just upload the original template that you saved at points 1/2.

That's it. Enjoy.

Steps to Change Background Image of Your Blog in Blogger
Note: Before making any changes to your template, take a full backup of your blogger template.

#Step 1. Go to Blogger In Draft Log in to your Blogger Dashboard and Navigate to Design > Template Designer > Background.

#Step 2. click on Background Image, and you’ll notice a new “Upload image” option, which will allow you to select and upload your image. Upload your custom image and save the template.

For images that fill the entire background, we recommend using a resolution of 1800 pixels wide and 1600 pixels high, and file size less than 200KB to minimize the loading time of your blog pages. We support JPEG, GIF, and PNG format images.

After uploading a photo, you will see additional options that are not available for the built-in images: Alignment, Repeat, and Scroll options.

Set Custom Photo as Blogger Background
  • Alignment: You can adjust horizontal (left, center, right) and vertical (top and bottom) alignment of your background image.
  • Repeat (Tile): If you have a small image, you can have it repeat horizontally and/or vertically to fill the page. Otherwise, we recommend that you choose a page background color that blends in with your background image.
  • Scroll: By default, your image stays in place while readers scroll the page contents. By selecting the “Scroll with page” option, both the background image and page contents scroll together. We recommend that you use an image that blends into your background color or set your image to tile vertically if you choose this option.

This feature is available on Blogger in Draft right now, so please go ahead and check it out!

Patience:
If you are new to blogging era then you must sustain the growth of your blog. key to a blogs success is patience. That is the only thing you have to have from the start. Experts will tell you lots of things about good blogging, but if you don't have the patience, all those good advices will going from one ear and go out from the other. Those experts will tell you that you need to create good content. You need to write about something that you enjoy, something that you know. All of these are right. But without patience you can't do any of these advices. Because it takes time for a blog to become successful and start making money.
- You should have the patience to write regularly.
